Q

what is pressure

A

as gas particles collide with the walls of the container, they exert a tiny force
the total force of the particles is the pressure
so, pressure = force / volume

Q

what happens to the pressure of the gas if the temp is increased and why

A

the increaase in temp gives the particles more kinetic energy, so they move faster and there are more collisions so more force is exerted, hence the pressure is increased

6
Q

what is the gas constant formula

A

pressure * volume = constant
this means the pressure and volume multiplied together will always be the same

Q

what is work on a gas

A

the transfer of energy by a force. doing work on a gas increases the internal energy and CAN increase the temperature
