Gas Laws Flashcards
State Boyle’s law
This state that the volume of a fixed mass of gas is inversely proportional to t pressure provided that the temperature remains constant
State Charles law
This states that the volume of a business of gas at constant pressure is directly proportional to the absolute temperature in Kelvin
State pressure law
The states that the pressure of a fixed mass of gas is directly proportional to its temperature provided that the volume remains constant
What is absolute temperature
This is the temperature at which the volume of a gaseous molecule is reduced to zero or temperature at which kind of molecule is at rest
State Avogadro’s law
This states that equal volume of a gas is at the same temperature and pressure contain the same number of molecules
What are ideal gases
Ideal gases are those gases which are big boys and Charles law
State gay-lussac’s law of combining volume
Gay-lussac’s law of combining volumes states that when gases react they do so in volume which pair is simple ratio to one another and the volume of the product if gas is divided temperature and pressure remains constant
State that is law of partial pressure
It states that the pressure of a mixture of ideal gases is equal to the sum of the individual partial pressures of of the component gases
State Graham’s law of diffusion
The law states that at constant pressure or temperature the rate of diffusion of any gas is inversely proportional to the square root of its density or molar weight of gas
