Q

What is the structure of the gas exchange in lungs?

A

trachae (top tree looking part)

bronchus (starting part of a branch)

bronchioles (mini parts of branches)

alveoli ( leaf looking parts)

lung (big eye looking thing)

ribs ( look like ribs)

in between ribs ( intercochol muslces)

diaphragm (sad smile)

Q

What is surface area in human gas exchange?

A

bronchioles end at air sacs called alveoli

lots of them and they have folded membranes

high surface area

many capillaries

faster rate of difussion

Q

What is concentration gradient in human gas exchange?

A

ventilation - brings in air with high conc^ of oxygen replaces air with low conc^ of oxygen

circulation - replaces blood high in oxygen with blood low in oxygen

maintains a high concentration gradient

so faster rate of diffusion

Q

What is diffusion distance in human gas exchange?

A

alveoli and capillary have thin epitheliums

short diffusion pathway

faster rate of diffusion
