Q

Ficks equation:

A

Rate of diffusion = K x A x (P2-P1)/D

Difference in partial pressure of gas on either side of barrier to diffusion (P2-P1)

Area for gas exchange (A)

Distance thickness of barrier to diffusion (D)

Diffusion constant (depends on solubility of gas and temperature)

Q

O2 process from lung to tissue in hemoglobin?

A

O2 from lung → Oxygen loading → 98.5% of oxygen binds to hemoglobin in red blood cells. 1.5% dissolves in blood plasma → Oxygen unloading into tissues

Q

02 saturation of hemoglobin vs Po2 in blood within tissue explain lol

A

With cooperative binding, there is a large difference in the amount of oxygen delivered to resting and exercising tissues

During exercise CO2 is produced which dissolves in water and forms carbonic acids

Blood in exercising muscles becomes more acidic
