Gap Balancing Flashcards
Use a smaller femoral component
Tight in Flexion
You are increasing flexion space
Use a distal femoral augment to move the femoral component distally and use a thinner polyethylene articular surface.
It is a case of tight in flexion and ok in extension .
By using distal augment you have reduced the flexion space and made it equal to flexion space (tight in flexion space )
Use a Smaller Femoral Component
Tight in Flexion
Use an offset stem to move the femoral component anteriorly
Tight in Flexion
Use a distal femoral augment to move the femoral component distally and use a thinner polyethylene articular surface
Tight in Flexion
Resect additional distal femoral bone
Tight in extension
Use a distal femoral Augment
Loose in Extension
Use an offset stem to move the femoral component anteriorly
Tight in Flexion
Use a distal femoral augment to move the femoral component distally
Loose in extension or to reduce extension space so that it is equal to flexion space and a thinner poly can be used
Use an offset stem to move the femoral component posteriorly .
Loose in Flexion
Use Posterior augments
Loose in Flexion
Use a larger femoral component
Loose in Flexion
Resect additional distal femoral bone
Tight in Extension
Use a larger femoral component
Loose in Flexion
Use posterior femoral Augments
To componsate the large femoral component which would must have been used for large flexion space
Use an offset stem to move the femoral component anteriorly
Tight in flexion
What will a smaller femoral component do ?
Increase the flexion space
When you use an offset stem to move the femoral component anteriorly what does it do ?
Increase flexion space
Use an offset stem to move the femoral component anteriorly.
