What is the Annunciation?
This is when Angel Gabriel, sent by God, announced to Mary that she will be the mother of Jesus.
What is a parable?
A story told by Jesus with a hidden meaning.
What happens in the parable of the Lost Son?
A son is wasteful of his father’s inheritance. The Father forgives him and this teaches us that God is always willing to show forgiveness.
What is a miracle?
An extraordinary event that cannot be explained so said to be the work of God.
What is the Immaculate Conception?
Mary was born without sin so that she could give birth to Jesus.
What is the Incarnation?
This is the belief that God took on human form as Jesus.
What does ‘divine’ mean?
‘Godly’; of or like God or a god.
Are Jesus’ miracles examples of his humanity or divinity?
Divinity.
Does Jesus going through pain and emotions show his humanity or divinity?
Humanity.
Why did God become human in the person of Jesus?
God became human in the person of Jesus in order to save humanity of their sins and to offer them salvation (eternal life in heaven).
What did John the Baptist do?
He was a preacher who called the people to repentance, offering baptism for the forgiveness of sins. He also prepared the way for Jesus and baptised Jesus in the River Jordan.
How was the Trinity present at Jesus’ baptism?
- The Son of God (Jesus) was baptised by John the Baptist; 2. The voice from heaven is explained as God the Father; 3. The dove that appeared is a sign of the Holy Spirit.
What is the Trinity?
The belief in 1 God in 3 persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
What are the roles of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?
God the Father: The creator of the world, God the Son: Jesus, the teacher, God the Holy Spirit: the guide.
What is blasphemy?
Pretending to be God.
