G650 Acronyms Flashcards
FCC
Flight Control Computer - Controls Flight Mode (Normal, Alternate, Direct & Backup)
2 FCC’s with 2 channels (A & B) with two lanes (Command & Monitor)
FCS
Flight Control System - 3 axis Fly by Wire
FQSC
Fuel Quantity Signal Conditioner: Provides information to the control panels. Controls fuel to within 200lbs inbalance while fueling
HSCU
Horizontal Stabilizer Control Unit: Controls the stabilizer drive
IDG
Integrated Drive Generator: Variable speed AC engine generator
MCDU
Multipurpose Control Display Unit: Three units on the center control column. Could also be called the FMS. This is where you will find the Solid State Power Power Controllers (SSPC) which are the virtual circuit breakers.
MPT
Modular Power Tiles: AC power goes through the Electro Mechanical Circuit Breakers to Remote Interface Units (RIU’s) to the Modular Power Tiles (MDT’s) or the Solid State Power Controllers (SSPC’s).
RIU
Remote Interface Unit: AC power goes through the Electro Mechanical Circuit Breakers to Remote Interface Units (RIU’s) to the Modular Power Tiles (MDT’s) or the Solid State Power Controllers (SSPC’s).
RVDT
Rotary Variable Differential Transducer
SMC
Standby Multifunction Controller: This is a two piece unit located on the glare shield. It is comprised of the Switch Panel Unit (SMU) and the Display Screen (DS).
SSPC
Solid State Power Controller: AC power goes through the Electro Mechanical Circuit Breakers to Remote Interface Units (RIU’s) to the Modular Power Tiles (MDT’s) or the Solid State Power Controllers (SSPC’s). These are the virtual circuit breakers and they are found on the Multipurpose Control Display Unit (MCDU) on the center control column.
EPCP
Electrical Power Control Panel: On the Pilot’s Overhead Panel (POP) and contains the switches for the L&R Bus Ties, APU Gen, External Power, L&R Generators, Ground Service Bus, Main Batteries (L&R), and the Reset switch.
MCE
Motor Control Electronics: on the Electronic Backup Hydraulic Actuator (EBHA) and used to control the Hydraulic Actuator (HA) in the event the Remote Electronic Unit (REU) fails. There are 7 EHBA’s and therefore 7 MCE’s.
REU
Remote Electronics Unit: Controls the Hydraulic Actuator (HA). 16 total, 9 on actuators and 7 on the EBHA’s
MAU
Modular Avionics Unit: There are three (3) MAU’s on board. Two in the LEER and one in the REER. The MAU gathers information from many locations and then sends it out to the display units for viewing. CAS messages are distributed through these.
FMA
Flight Mode Annunciator: Scoreboard for what mode selections are in use.
LGCMP
Landing Gear Control Maintenance Panel
CPAM
Cabin Pressure Acquisition Module
CPC
Cabin Pressure Controller: On Pilot’s Overhead Panel (POP). Selections for Flight, Fault, and Auto. Also has a manual descend and climb dial and a Close/Open valve indicator.
SSEC
Static Source Error Correction: Switch located on the REER switch panel behind the Co-pilot seat and checked on cabin preflight to ensure it is enabled.
EVAS
Emergency Vision Assurance System
BPCU
Bus Power Control Units: The BPCU’s are the “Brains” of the electrical system and provide distribution and protection of the system. They provide detection, protection, and notification of faults and output the findings to the CAS message system. They can be reset by the crew (one time) if the fault is no longer present. They control the Bus Ties to provide power to the opposite side in the event of a fault. The BPCU logic is Left before Right, and Essential before Main.
NBPT
No Break Power Transfer: Controlled by the BPCU (Bus Power Control Unit). Uses the Generator Control Unit (GCU) speed control to synchronize the frequency and phase of the IDG (Integrated Drive Generator) to the previous or next AC source. If there is no IDG in the transfer, (APU, External Power Source, or Component Failure) there will be a break in the power supply.
CCD
Cursor Control Device: Controls the mouse/cursor on the DU’s
AGM
Advanced Graphic Module: If this fails, you will get a red X on the display unit.
