  • With uphill parking; you must turn your wheels towards the curb or edge of the road.
  • Turn the steering wheel to your left, so the wheels turn away from the curb and towards the road.
  • Shift the handbrake on, with the foot on the break. Always use the parking brake.

Which Demerit points do you gain and how many will suspend the driver license?

  • Gain 2-5 points, you will be sent a warning letter.
  • Gain: 6-8 points; you will be sent a 2nd warning letter to improve on driving.
  • Gain: 9+ points, the driving license is suspended for60 days. Letter from the Ministry of Transportation to tell you to surrender your license.

  • All drivers must stop when a bus is picking up/dropping passengers. Slow down when approaching the bus.
  • If you are coming from behind the bus, stop at least 20 metres away. Do not go until the bus moves or the lights have stopped flashing.
  • If a driver doesn’t stop, they can be fined $400 - $2,000 and receive six demerit points for a first offence
