G Load Flashcards
Why does Gload take a few seconds to impact the brain?
It causes reduced oxygen supply but for a few seconds residual oxygen in braincells is sufficient
What is the control input that is always associated with GLoad
Back stick
What are the symptoms of greyout and when does it occur?
Partial lack of vision, psychological affects. Occurs around 3.5G
Describe blackout and when it occurs
A haze over entire field of view - around 5G
What is G-LOC? When does it occur
Lack of Consciousness follows blackout if G force is sustained
Usually, you will regain consciousness after high G forces:
A rapidly
B slowly?
A
What are some exacerbating factors for G force effects?
Hypoxia (low blood oxygen)
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
Any Respiratory infection
What can be done to reduce the effect of G forces
- Minimise blood pooling in abdomen by tensing abdominal muscles,
- recline seat to bring brain closer to level of heart
