G Field Flashcards
Gravitational Force
Newton’s law of gravitation states that the force of attraction between two point masses is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of their separation
Gravitation Field
A gravitational field is a region of space where a mass experiences a gravitational force.
Gravitational Potential
The gravitational potential at a point is the work done per unit mass by an external agent in bringing a small test point mass from infinity to that point without a change in kinetic energy.
Gravitational Potential Energy
The gravitational potential energy is defined as the work done by external force in bringing a small test mass from infinity to that point without a change in kinetic energy.
Gravitational Field Strength
Gravitational field strength at a point is defined as the gravitational force per unit mass acting on a small test mass placed at that point.
