Pearl Index - how many pregnancies per 100 woman years.

What contraceptive for women with IBD?
A
malabsorption therefore oral will have reduced efficacy. Depo-provera not ideal as women with IBD at increased risk of osteoporosis.

Is breastfeeding a contraceptive. What should be used?
A
If woman fully breastfeeding, amenorrhoeic and less than 6 months postpartum, breastfeeding is >98% effective. Progesterogens have no effect on milk volume (unlike COCP)
