A

guest-friend; hospitality idea in Ancient Greece; because someone was a guest in another’s home, there is now generational bond; think of the scene between Glaucus and Diomedes where Diomedes stops his Ariseia to recount to Glaucus their guest-friendship; Diomedes doesn’t kill Glaucus and they switch armour- maybe depicts this relationship to highlight importance of when xenia is broken
