FUSES Flashcards
Explain the purpose of a HBC fuse
The purpose of a HBC (High Breaking Capacity) fuse is to protect electrical circuits from overcurrent conditions while being able to safely interrupt high fault currents without causing damage
In industrial installations MCBs are provide with backup protection using HBC fuses .
Give one reason for this precaution?
Explain the term HBC
MCBs have a limited rupturing capacity that may not be sufficient in interrupt high short currents so HBC provide back up
HBC stands for High breaking capacity
Explain the essential difference between a fuse switch and switch fuse
A fuse switch combines a switch for isolating the circuit and a fuse for overcurrent protection. A switch fuse prioritizes overcurrent protection with the fuse as the main component and uses the switch to disconnect the circuit when needed
