furnaces Flashcards
Primary / secondary
Primary air is mixed with fuel before ignition, secondary air is drawn into the flame after ignition to complete combustion process
Lock out tag out
equipment not safe when turned off may have store energy, needs to be off loaded and locked off. mechanical, chemical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, thermal
Furnace section
Radiant section is the hottest and where most heat gets transfered. most vulnerable to oevr heating. Convection to recover heat energy from gases from the radiant section.
how do you know a vessel is about to rupture
vibrating banging noises, over pressurization
Impingement
occurs by reduced excess air lengthening flames causing them to touch the tubes which would cause damage to the pipes
Atomization of liquid fuels
Necessary to increase surface area and efficiency of performance by pressure jet and steam jet methods
trail for ignition time
The time allowed to introduce fuel into the combustion chamber without having achieved ignition. too much time/fuel could cause issues
