- not dimorphic
Disease:
Dermatophytoses
Diagnosis:
Sabouraud’s agar -> mycelium and asexual spores
Treatment:
Topical agent such as clotrimazole is used
Prevention
Skin should be kept dry and cool

Sporothrix Schenckii
A
Characteristics:
- thermally dimorphic
- mold in the soil, yeast in the body 37oC
Habitat: soil & vegetation
Disease: sporotrichosis
Diagnosis:
- cigar shaped budding yeasts visible in pus
- culture on Sabouraud’s agar shows typical morphology
Treatment: Itraconazole
Prevention: Skin should be protected when gardening
