A. An outdated Price List must be kept for 1 year after the last use

** The FTC governs Funeral Establishments misrepresenting that a body has to be embalmed
Burial at Sea must be 3 nautical miles from land
Water must be at least 600 ft deep (in some areas 1800 ft is required)
Reports of all burials at sea must be made to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Application for Military Sea Burials are made to the Burial at Sea Coordinator at the desired port of embarkation
Qualifications for free burial at sea
Active duty members of the uniformed services
Retirees and veterans that were honorable discharged
U.S. civilian marine personnel of the Military Sealift Command
Dependent family members of active duty personnel, retirees, and veterans of the uniformed services
Application for Military Sea Burial is made to the Burial at Sea Coordinator and the desired port of embarkation
You may be eligible for a VA burial allowance if
You paid for a veteran’s burial or funeral and
You have not been reimbursed by another government agency or some other source, such as the deceased veteran’s employer and
The veteran was discharged under conditions other than dishonorable
You may be eligible for a VA burial allowance if
** At least one of the following conditions MUST be met
the veteran died because of service related disability
the veteran was receiving VA pension or compensation at the time of death
the veteran was entitled to receive VA pension or compensation at the time of death, but decided not to reduce his/her military retirement or disability pay
the veteran died in a VA hospital, in a nursing home under VA contract, or while in an approved state nursing home

Burial allowances - within 2 years after the date of disposition (cremation or burial)
Form 21-530 There is no time limit to submit the forms for a service connected to burial allowance, plot or interment allowance, VA hospitalization death burial allowance, or reimbursement of transportation expenses
Veterans Administration Funeral Info
Does not sell caskets, however they will provide a free marker
If the marker is to be placed in a private cemetery the family must pay the setting fee
A standard government headstone or marker is the property of the Veterans Administration
U.S. Flag draped over a half couch is folded into 3, 10 inch folds over the closed portion of the casket
Military Honor
21 gun salute (the deceased has to be killed in action, a high ranking officer, or received the Medal of Honor in order to have the firing party)

Present the flag to the spouse or next of kin
Military Escort - the person that accompanies a deceased from the Armed Forces to the place of burial
The chaplain is positioned at the head of the casket
