A

looks at a person’s income and capital when deciding whether the applicant is poor enough to qualify for legal aid. People receiving income support or job seekers allowance automatically qualify unless their capital exceeds certain limits. Anyone above these limits does not qualif

Disposable income

A

that is income after deducting:
Tax and National Insurance
Housing costs
Childcare costs or maintenance paid for a child An allowance for themselves and each dependant.
If after all of the deductions the applicant is below a certain level then they are eligible. If they are above a different level then they will not be eligible.
