own resources- fund own case, would cost alot of money, sra make it clear any solicitor fees must be transparent as possible and recommend that you shop around
insurance- depend on type of insurance
what is state funding and conditional fees
state funding- funding through the government known as legal aid, limited and not available for personal injury claims
conditional fees agreement- no win no fee , solicitor and client agree share financial risk, only client will have pay solicitors fees is solicitor wins case, solicitor loses claim, client will still need to pay expenses and the winners costs- the conditional fee agreements order 2013
what is trade union, citizens advice, pro bono
trade unions- often provide legal services for industry related cases
citizens advice- queries dealt with face to face or over phone, usually supported by solicitors and barristers
pro bono- refers to solicitors and barristers doing legal work for free, voluntary basis
what are solicitors
main legal professionals who directly deal with clients
personal matters, protecting rights of individual, making and defending claims arising from negligence, helping businesses with legal issues
first person to contact for negligence claim- help advice based on facts and evidence given
what are barristers
highly trained professionals who deal with serious or high profile court cases
specialist knowledge and can advice strengths and weaknesses of the case with objective view
cab rank rule- must take case brought to them if availabel within their area of expertise
contact througb clerk who helps organise their time
what is citizens advice and law centres
citizens advice- independent advice charity, provide free impartial confidential advice aiming to help all who need it
law centres- work within local communities to defend rights of local people, specialise in social welfare law, offer advice, casework and representation to individuals, independent and operate on a non for profit basis, very few that exist
what is insurance and the internet
insurance- policies include legal cover as an optional extra possibly on household or car insurance policies
internet- anyone search internet for advice, people must be careful they find reputable webistes with accurate advice for legal system
