What is a computer?
A computer is an electronic device operating under the control of instruction stored in its memory.
What are the basic components of a computer?
Hardware and Software.
What is hardware?
Hardware is the name given to the physical parts of a computer.
What are the five main categories of Hardware?
The CPU, Input devices, Output devices, Memory and Storage Devices.
What is the CPU?
The CPU is the brain of the computer and it controls how the rest of the computer works.
What does the CPU consist of?
The CU (Control Unit) and the ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit).
What does the Control Unit do?
The Control Unit carries out instructions in the software and directs the flow of data in the computer.
What does the Arithmetic Logic Unit do?
The arithmetic logic unit does calculations and logic operations.
What is a peripheral device?
A peripheral device is any device that is controlled by the computer system but is outside the tower.
What does an input device do?
Input devices get data into a computer.
What does an output device do?
