Bed Without a true mattress instead encased area is filled with small round beads coated and silicone to prevent clumping air is pumped through the bed which causes the beads to mimic liquid patient rest on a thin sheet within the air fluidized compartment
Air fluidized bed
Bedframe line with a pocketed air mattress, each pocket is filled with air that can be inflated or slightly deflated to prevent pressure on any one area, can be customized for the needs of each patient
Low air loss bed
Combination bed in which the lower part is an air fluidized type and the upper section is a low air loss type
Combination air fluidized and low air loss bed
What is a complication that may result in a patient with immobility on the neurological system?
Less mentally alert, vision may be less clear, decrease in balance and coordination
What is Compression neuropathy?
The nerves may be compressed between the bones and the firm surface of the bed resulting in impaired nerve function

Lying on the left or right side supported behind back in between knees and ankles with pillows in good body alignment

Lying on the left side is semi prone position with right leg flexed and drawn up towards chest, left arm is positioned towards patients back

Lying on the right side in semiprone position with left leg flexed towards chest and right arm along back
What is Fowler’s
Semi sitting position with various degrees of head elevation with knees slightly elevated
Low Fowlers degree
Head of bed 30-45 degrees
Semi Fowler’s degree
Head of bed 45-60 degrees
High fowlers degree
Head of bed 60-90 degrees
What is Prone position
Lying on the stomach with head turned to the side

To prevent external rotation of the legs

Maintain a position of function of the feet in relation to the legs of a patient with decreased movement and strength of the lower extremities

Maintain a position of function of the hand and fingers of a patient with decreased movement of the hand and fingers
