1. Define and structure question
   - try to reduce problem to a metric, if you can’t then make the problem more specific using words
   - structure using MECE
   - make the buckets problem and industry specific
2. Prioritise drivers
   - take context and #s into consideration
   - prioritise by assessing impact and likelihood
3. Generate hypotheses
   - give rationale of why I prioritised the bucket I’m generating hypotheses for first
   - say the obvious, think creatively and make sure ideas are practical (can actually happen).
   - also if there is a highly unlikely hypothesis, make interviewer aware you know a hypothesis is highly unlikely
