Fundamental Thinking for Self-Esteem Flashcards
Thinking, even when thinking is difficult
Awareness, even when awareness is challenging
Clarity, whether or not it comes easily.
Respect for Reality, not rejection of the truth.
The hard thing about staying full conscious and maintaining a respect for reality is that I imagine that when facing reality I will:
- Lose Motivation
- Get Angry
- Get Depressed
Independence, not dependence.
Active Orientation, fight against passivity.
The hard thing about staying fully conscious in this area is that I lack a sense of urgency.
Willingness to take Appropriate Risk
Honesty with Yourself, not self-delusion.
Living in the Present, not the past or in fantasy
The hard thing about staying fully conscious while Living in the Present is that my resentment give me a jolt of energy and meaning.
Confronting Yourself, not avoiding yourself
Willingness to See and Correct Mistakes
Reason Not Irrationality
Living consciously means intellectual independence; trying to understand for yourself
RECIPROCAL CAUSATION
The more I think consciously, the more I trust my mind and respect my own worth.
GOAL PLANNING AND EXECUTION
When something goes wrong, do you ask “What did I overlook?” I sometimes feel ‘superior’ to my job because I think about my ambitious future plans and not what is right in front of me to accomplish.
SIGNALS
Try to develop your consciousness so that you can think about the danger signals that your mind is flashing at you, as well as the signals of opportunity that are trying to reach you.
