The Magna Carta was written because the king was taking taxes from the people personally, excuting people for no reason, and imprisoning the queen. He was not following the rules of the land and it made the people mad, so they arrested him and made him sign the Magna Carta which stated that Everyone, including the king, was subject to the law.
What Fundamental Political Principle is this?
Rule of Law.
The government does not have the right or ability to force all the people of America to have only one religion.

The people give permission. Ex: The people give permission to the government to protect their rights in return of their vote.
Rule of Law Means…?
Everyone, including government officials, are subject to the law.
Ex: The president was arrested for bribery, theft, speeding. He will be in trial starting tomorrow.

Jesse was proud to finally be able to vote. She turned 18, 3 months ago and now the voting offices are open. “I’m going to vote someone who embraces my rights.”
