Fundamental Laws Of Chemistry Flashcards
Memorize
Law of conservation of mass
mass is neither created nor destroyed in chemical reactions
Law of Definite Proportions
a given chemical compound always contains its component elements in fixed ratio (by mass) and does not depend on its source and method of preparation
Law of multiple proportions
When two elements combine with each other to form more than one compound, the weights of one element that combine with a fixed weight of the other are in a ratio of small whole numbers
Law of combining volumes
The ratio of the volumes of gases consumed or produced in a chemical reaction is equal to the ratio of simple whole numbers
Avogadro’s law
equal volumes of all gases, at the same temperature and pressure, have the same number of molecules
Law of mass action
the rate of the chemical reaction is directly proportional to the product of the activities or concentration of the reactants.
