What is the function of the 1st layer of the skin
Colour, protection from germs and the environment
What is the function of the middle layer of the skin?
Hair growth, hair bulb and arrector pili muscle, where the glands are stored
What is the function of the 3rd layer of skin?
To connect the skin to the bones and muscles, protection from impact, keep you warm.
What can be found in the top layer of the skin?
Dead skin, pores, melanin. Nerve endings, squamous cells, hair, keratin, basal cells.
What is the acid mantle?
Top layer of the epidermis, thin layer of oil, natural moisturiser.
What is the subcutaneous tissue
Connective tissue.
Where is waste excreted through
Pores
What is sebum?
Oil from the sebaceous gland it secreats oil to the skin providing moisture and a water proof lining.
What system is the skin part of?
Integumentary system
