15
Q

Why is water moved through the plant?

A

Water provides support for the plant, allowing it to have an upright structure.

Plants leaves require water for the process of photosynthesis to make glucose and oxygen needed for growth and energy production.

16
Q

What type of reaction is photosynthesis?

A

Light Dependent reaction

17
Q

Steps of photosynthesis

A
  1. Light stimulates chlorophyll to release electrons, which results in the production of ATP. Light energy also splits water molecules, producing oxygen and hydrogen.
  2. The hydrogen takes up by hydrogen carrier (NADP+) to form NADPH. The splitting of water also releases electrons, which replace those by the chlorophyll
  3. The ATP and hydrogen (NADPH) are taken to the site of the light independent reactions.
18
Q

Digestive system

A

The human digestive system (gut) is a tubular tract, which is regionally specialized into a complex series of organs and glands

19
Q

Main function of the endocrine system

A

Release hormones that act on target with the correct receptor

20
Q

Major structure of the endocrine system

A

Pancreas
Adrenal Gland
Thyroid Gland
Pineal Gland
The Gonads (ovaries and testes)

21
Q

What is a hormone?

A

A hormone is a chemical messenger that is reported via the bloodstream to act on distant target cells.
