A bridge is a type of social tie that connects two different groups in a social network

Behavioural actions that’s deemed as normal
Values
Intangible qualities or beliefs accepted and endorsed by a given society
Ascribed status
Status or position in society fixed by birth
Achieved status
Status or position in society based on achievement
Socialisation function
The process of learning norms and values of society
Meritocracy
A system in which a persons position is based on merit
Economic function
The family provides an economic function to all its members by pooling resources and ensuring all have what they need
Society in miniature
A small scale version of the wider society in which people live and work
Equality of opportunity
Individuals are provided with an equal chance in life regardless of social class, ethnicity, age, gender, sexuality or religion
Integration
The ways that different groups come together to form a whole in society
Social Solidarity
The interdependence between individuals in a society, which allows individuals to feel that they can enhance the lives of others
Role allocation
A system of allocating people to roles which best suit their aptitudes and capabilities
