Functionalism argue that education is part of the social institution that helps meet the needs of society and Maintain stability.
As Education performs the Function of creating a sense of identity by teaching core values and Allocating pupils which is known as Role Allocation

Socialisation is when you children share the set of norms and values and that they’re expected to commit to it
Based on Education Parson argue that education is a bridge between the Primary and Secondary Socialisation. It’s way where Students are in a transition to be in Workforces as it teaches students how to navigate and function is society allowing society to function properly
what is social solidarity
social solidarity is a theory thought by Durkhein. he belives that it is how society holds together and what ties the individual to the society.
how is social solidarity linked to education?
Durkheim believed that to being social solidarity to society it must be fed into education. this could be through history, languages etc to affirm a since of belonging into society.
How does meritocracy link to education
Functionalists argue that schools are meritocratic institutions. Children are being evaluated through examinations and awarding of qualifications. Therefore only those with talent ability and hard work get rewarded.
