The learning of norms and values through education
What is meritocracy?
The position you achieve in society as an adult is due to your ability rather than your status
What is the difference between ascribed status and archived status?
You are born with your ascribed status whereas your achieved status is earns through hard work
What is the difference between universalistic and particularistic values?
Particularistic values are what individuals are judged by whilst in the family and are based on individuality whereas universalistic values are what individuals are judged by whilst at school and school here apply to all members of society regardless of who you are
What is role allocation?
Sifts and sorts students in terms of their ability
What is social stratification?
