Q

What are the chordae tendinea?

A

These are known as the ‘heart strings’. They are connected to the bicuspid valves and stop them from collapsing and blood flowing back into the atrium.

Q

What is ossification?

A

This is the process of bone remodelling. Bone is reabsorbed is broken down by osteoclasts in the body and calcium is reabsorbed. Osteoblasts will build new bone tissue to then increase bone density and strengthen the bone.
