Fuel System/Propellors Flashcards
Just the usual
50USG main tanks 1USG unusable.
Capacitance probe measure wetted area in first/third tank.
100LL
The fuel lever has what 3 options?
On, off, XFEED
Safety guard against turning off
Is there a float based system?
Yes, when fuel falls between 3-5USG, a float system that operates a micro switch operates which gives a low fuel warning on the G1000.
How much fuel in the AUX?
Where are the tanks?
13.7 total but 13.2 usable.
So 76.4 useable total and 79.4 unusuable total.
Rear of engine nacelle.
Why is there 0.5USG unusuable in the AUX?
A shut off switch for AUX pump when running low is activated so air is not sucked into main tank fuel system.
What are the propellors made of?
High compressed wood at root and lightweight wood for the rest, coated in an expoy fibreglass to seal blade then with an acrylic lacquer.
Just know this
Is a constant speed, fully feathering engine.
How is the blade protected?
Stainless steel sheath covers blade and then rubber for inner blade
What does the CTM do to the blade?
How does governor react to oil pressure changes?
CTM moves blades to fine, counterweights are attached to move into coarse.
Engine driven governor if has increasing oil will fine pitch, decreasing oil will coarse pitch.
Why might we have an accumulator attached to our engines?
Move out of feather
How does the feathering operating system work?
Prop moves past feathering gate so oil leaves governor to accumulator and counterweights move to coarse. Oil kept in accumulator as check valve closed until moved to high RPM then accumulator moves oil to governor as check valve opens.
