Fuel Injection System Flashcards
How does the fuel injection system work?
Measures the volume of air flowing into the engine to determine the amount of fuel -uses RPM
What are the 4 basic components to the fuel injection system?
Engine Driven Injector Pump (Usually Vane type)
Fuel/Air Control Unit
Fuel Manifold Valve
Injector Nozzles
Boost Pump (For startup, and as an aux pump)
In a turbocharged fuel injection system, what is different?
No manually adjusted variable orafice
there is an Aneroid assembly exposed to the upper deck
T or F: In the Fuel Air Control Unit, there is a venturi
False
What is the advantage of a fuel injection system over a carb and pressure carb?
Even distribution and continuos flow of metered fuel
Positive shutoff during idle cutoff
What type of injector nozzle has a filter screen and a steel shroud?
Normally Aspirated Nozzle
Where does fuel and air mix?
Inlet of the Intake Valve Port
What will an absolute pressure gauge read at sea level?
14.7 psi
What will gauge pressure be at sea level?
0 psi
WHAT IS THE 4 STROKE PRINCIPLE?
INTAKE, COMPRESSION, POWER, EXHAUST
