Fuel Components Flashcards

1
Q

What is a cell interconnect breakaway valve

A

FWd and aft cells are interconnected by 4 breakaway valves

Breakaway shut off valves shut off to prevent fuel loss in event of damage to aircraft structure

Q

What is a dual pilot valve

A

Valves mounted at the full tank level equiped with floats. Float rises when tank is full and shuts off valve.

Enclosed in box and baffle to prevent actuation vis sloshing fuel

Q

Describe the operation for pressure refueling

A

Primary and secondary’s to operate a solenoid of the dual pilot valve

When the solenoid actuates it blocks the vent hole simulating a full tank

The fuel/defuel shutoff valve closes stoping flow to the tank

The solenoid is reenergised and trapped fuel drains into the tank

Fuel enters the dual pilot valves via float valves,
When the fuel lifts the floats causing the float valve to close.

Back pressure is created and the fuel/defuel shutoff valve closes stopping flow
