Fuel System
Fuel is stored in two vented fuels tanks located on each wings. The flow of fuel is controlled by the fuel selector switches located on the overhead panel (Left and Right tanks, with OFF and ON mode).
Fuel then descends to the fuel reservoir by gravity. The fuel reservoir is used to maintain an adequate fuel level to be fed to the system during other than level flight attitude.
Within the reservoir is located to main ejector pump and aux fuel boost pump. The main ejector pump is an engine driven fuel pump. The aux fuel boost pump is used to pump fuel during start and during a main ejector pump failure, the aux fuel boost pump will automatically be turned on.
Pumped fuel then travels to the reservoir manifold and to the shut off valve. Shut off valve is used to cut off fuel from the firewall to the rest of the system. Then the fuel is filtered. The fuel filter has a bypass mode, if it became blocked a flag will raise, but the fuel will continue to flow to the system and be filtered down stream prior to the nozzle.
The filtered fuel then travels to the oil-to-fuel heater. The fuel is warmed to prevent ice crystals from forming within the fuel, the oil fuel heater transfers heat from the oil to the fuel.
The warm fuel then travels to the FCU, the FCU meters how much fuel sent to the engine on a certain power and/or fuel condition selected. The unsent fuel is sent back to the reservoir while the metered fuel is sent to the flow divider, then to the fuel manifolds and to the fuel nozzles.
After shutdown, unused fuel is transferred to the fuel can located on the firewall. The fuel can needs to be drained after 6 engine shutdowns or after a days flight, whichever comes sooner.
