FTL Flashcards
Acclimatised
When a crew member has spent 3 consecutive local nights on the ground within a time zone which is 2 hours wide, and is able to take uninterrupted nights sleep.
Local Night
A period of 8 hours falling between 2200 hours and 0800 hours local time
Split Duty
A flying duty period which consists of two or more sectors, separated by less than a minimum rest period.
When is consider LRV, S1 and S2?
Any sector which planned FLIGHT time exceeds 14 hours
Taking into account mean wind conditions and seasonal changes.
Segments
S1 =< 16 h BLOCK time any part of the year
S2 + 16 h
Reporting time
Normal
- DXB -> 01:25
- Out -> 01:00
LRV
- DXB -> 01:25
- Out -> 01:15
Types of FTL Extension
By In-Flight Relief
By Split Duty
By Commander’s Discretion
Extension and Max FTL for In-Flight Relief
CRC/ First -> 1/2 Rest -> Max 18 h ( same limitation as 3 men crew )
Seat -> 1/3 Rest -> Max 15 h
Sector -Definition
When an aeroplane first moves under its own power until it next comes to rest after landing, on the designated parking position.
Going back to the stand doesn’t consider 1 sector
Split Duty how works?
Rest:
- Min 3 hours
- Max 10 hours
FTL extends 50%
+6 hours -> Hotel
Commander’s Discretion
Multisectors -> 2 hours. Except the last one 3 hours
1 sector -> max 3 hours
Captain reports -> Discretion Report Form
Standby Duty - FDP
Length of standby duty + Positioning + FDP completed.
Before completing 6 hours Standby -> FTL starts with Standby + FDP
After 6 hours -> FTL starts with Standby + FDP - ( Worked Standby - 6h)
Reduction Rest
Asked by Company
DXB -> 1 hour -> but never below 12 hours
Outstation -> 1 hour -> but never below 11 hours
In such circumstances ( I understand is the situation where FC rest min of 11 hours) -> If Traveling hotel is +30’ -> increase rest = traveling time - 1h
In all cases check in and out hotel at least 10 hours.
Request by Commander -> Commander’s Discretion to Reduce Rest Period
- Up to 10 hours from Check in and out
- Only Exceptional
- Fill up a Discretion Report Form
That rule doesn’t apply for LRV
Flight time Limitation
100 hours in the 28 days
900 hours in 12 momths
Respect this limitation at the beginning of the flight
For this calculation only counts time as Operating crew ( as recorded in the Voyage Report)
FDP and FTL - Definitions
FDP - Flight Duty Period
FTL - Flight Time Limitation
LRV - Standard Max FDP
S1 -> 18 hours
S2 -> 20 hours
In Exceptional Circumstances -> Extension:
- 4 pilots -> 22 hours
- 3 pilots -> 18 h ( Flight time 15 hours)
When can we push 3 crew to 18h?
- Anywhere (DXB and Outstation)
When can we push 4 crew to 22 h?
- DXB Delay no +4 h
- Outstation
Can we go further?
In exceptional operational circumstances, DSVP-FO or his designee may authorise a waiver of the limitations (3 men 18 h or 4 men 22 h
