Define “Judgment within a global context”
This refers to choosing the best course of action or strategy considering global factors. It includes selecting decisions in challenging situations, providing timely and accurate information for decision-making, offering tailored recommendations, factoring in the environment of the host country, and making decisions reflecting organizational priorities and Canadian interests.
“Resilience and Adaptability”
This competency involves adapting to different ways of working and living and unpredictable circumstances with limited support. It includes managing change and uncertainty positively, staying productive by letting go of uncontrollable issues, taking initiatives under difficult conditions, recognizing one’s limitations, and learning from mistakes.
Define “Influence and Alliance Building”
This refers to the ability to differentiate and engage with various players in an alliance, build relationships and networks that help meet objectives, help others in urgent situations, share networks to strengthen team initiatives, articulate common interests and build consensus, and exercise a range of negotiation skills.
Define “Intercultural Proficiency”
This involves identifying and managing one’s cultural assumptions and biases, modeling Canadian values while respecting other cultures, accommodating local behavior that conflicts with personal beliefs, seeking out ways to utilize the skills of local colleagues, engaging with local staff and coworkers, contributing to team cohesiveness appropriately, and seeking feedback in intercultural environments.
