FRONT PANEL Flashcards
CLOCK Controls
CHR Control.
- PUSH - start / stop / reset functions of the CHR display and 2nd hand with successive pushing
- Chronograph
- overrides any existing ET display
TIME/DATE Pushbutton.
- controls time/date function
- cycle thru:
- UTC time (come from GPS)
- UTC date (GPS)
- MAN (Manual time) (from Clock)
- MAN (Manual date) (from Clock)
SET Pushbutton.
- set manual time and date
- push 1 x -hours flash (use +- button to set)
- push again: minutes
- push again: run the time
ET/RESET Pushbutton.
- controls elapsed time function
- ET 1 x - run elapsed time - 2 x Hold the ET
- Reset - set ET to 0
- will see RUN or HLD symbol in lower left
+ / - Pushbutton.
- use to set manual time and date
- Date: Day - Month - Year - RUN
- a delay greater than 1 min will revert back to previous time/date
Time / Date Indicator.
- shows UTC or MAN time (when selected with TIME button)
- alternates between day/month and year when date selected with (Time/date button)
Elapsed Time / Chronograph Indicator.
- displays ET(h:m) or CH minutes
- CH replaces ET (ET runs in background until after CH is stopped/reset)
Chronograph Second Hand.
- sweep second hand
- indicates chronography seconds
- controlled by CHR control
NWS Switch
ALT.
- hyd B provides power for NWS
NORM (Guarded)
- hyd A provides power for NWS
BELOW G/S P-INHIBIT Light
Illuminated (amber):
- below glide slope alert active
Push.
- pushing inhibits BELOW G/S alert below 1,000’ RA
- GPWS mode 5
DISPLAY SELECT PANEL Controls
MAIN PANEL DUs Selector.
- selects what is displayed on the respective DUs
OUTBD PFD - shows PFD on outbd display blanks the inbd
NORM - PDF on outbd and ND on inbd
INBD.
- ENG PRI - primary eng inst on inbd display and PFD on outbd
- PFD - PFD on inbd and blanks the outbd
- MFD - PFD on outbd and blanks the inbd - inbd stays blank until SYS or ENG is selected with MFD switch
LOWER DU Selector.
- selects what is on the lower DU
ENG PRI - primary eng instruments on lower DU - blanks upper
NORM - DU is normally blank OR displays MFD format selected on eng display control panel
ND - displays ND on lower unit
A/P P/RST Light
A/P Disengage Light.

RED FLASHING - flashes red and tone sounds
- if AP disengages (can be reset by pressing either disengage light or switch)

RED STEADY.
- stab out of trim below 800’ RA (dual channel approach)
- ALT ACQ inhibitied (during AP Go-around - if stab not trimmed for single AP ops)
- Test switch held in POS 2
- Ground system test fail

AMBER FLASHING.
- AP automatically reverts to CWS pitch or Roll while in CMD (reset by pushing either light or select another mode)

AMBER STEADY.
- test switch held in POS 1
A/T P/RST Light
RED FLASHING - AT has disengaged.
RED STEADY - test switch held in POS 2
AMBER FLASHING. AT airspeed error
- Inflight
- Flaps not up
- airspeed differs from commanded value by +10 or -5 kts and its not approaching commanded value
AMBER STEADY - test switch held in POS 1
FMC P/RST Light
FMC Alert Light.
- Illuminated (Amber only):
- an alert message exsits for both CDUs
- test switch held in POS 1 OR POS 2
- pressing will extinguish both pilots FMC alert lights
AP/AT TEST Switch
TEST 1:
- illuminates AP/AT disengage lights and FMC Alert lights [STEADY AMBER]
TEST 2:
- illuminates AP/AT disengage lights [STEADY RED] and FMC Alert light [STEADY AMBER]
LIGHTS TEST Switch
Test.
- illuminates ALL system lights on FWD and AFT overhead panels
- SOME lights on CAPT and FO panels
- go to full brightness
- will trigger RECALL and when released the Faults are shown
BRT: all indicators full bright
DIM: all indicators to low brightness
TAKEOFF CONFIG Warning Light
- RED (on Ground)
- activates when thrust levers are advanced if a/c not configured correctly for takeoff
- light is simultaneous with aural warning horn
CABIN ALTITUDE Light
RED (Inflight)
- comes on when CABIN ALT exceeds 10,000’
- simultaneous with aural warning horn
- extinguishes when cabin alt descends below 10,000’
SPEED BRAKE ARMED Light
Deactivated.
- is not armed with Speed Brake lever in the DOWN position
Illuminated (Green).
- indicates the automatic operation of the the speed brake system is armed correctly
SPEED BRAKE DO NOT ARM Light
What is this light telling us? (1sp)
Can we still use the speedbrake after landing? (1sp)
[1sp: we are having a problem with the speedbrake system and we cant arm it.
(b) yes - we can do it manually]
Deactivated.
- light is not armed when Speed Brake handle is DOWN
Illuminated (Amber).
- abnormal condition -or-
- test inputs to the auto speed brake system -or-
- During Landing -
- wheel speed < 60 kts and the speedbrake lever is NOT DOWN.
- will stay on until speedbrake is stowed.
Abnormal Conditions.
- lever ARMED or either thrust lever in REVERSE and (one of the following)…
- anti skid inop
- auto speedbrake actuator not retracted
- wheel speed vs air/gnd signal disagree
- internal faults
- even with AUTOMATIC faults - you can still use speedbrakes MANUALLY (to UP after landing)
STAB OUT OF TRIM Light
- Operates ONLY with autopilot engaged
- remains OUT if AP is not engaged
Illuminated (Amber) - AP not trimming stabilizer properly
SPEEDBRAKES EXTENDED Light
What happens when this light comes on? (1sp) or what can cause this light to come on?
[1sp: this light will come on - the speedbrake and/or the spoiler handle has been positioned beyond the ‘armed’ detent with the flap handle beyond 10’ and/or 800’ RA]
Amber Light.

INFLIGHT
- speedbrake lever above the armed position - and -
- TE flaps > 10 - or -
- ALT < 800’ RA
- speedbrake lever above the armed position - and -
-
GROUND (failure condition)
- speedbrake lever is DOWN - and -
- ground spoilers are NOT stowed
- Note - if hyd A is less than 750 psi this light will not work on the ground
This light is controlled by the PSEU
