Difference between errors in law and errors in fact
Example:
Error of law- umpire calls you out on 2 strikes
Error of fact- umpire thinks the ball is over the plate but it isn’t
What are interlocutory appeals?
appeals filed prior to adjudication in a criminal case
When can a prosecutor file an interlocutory appeal?
When a judges decision prevents the conviction of the defendant
When can the defense file an interlocutory appeal?
when it involves small class decisions that protects the defendants right such as DBL JEP or excessive bail
Who can appeal a final verdict in a criminal case?
the appellate court
What does indigent mean?
poor needy defendant
What does pro se mean?
” for ones self” “on ones own behalf”
Broken windows theory
Communities that allow “broken windows” graffiti, litter, and social disorganization will have higher levels of crime then communities who attend to these problems and clean up their streets/neighborhoods

treatment rehab classes anger management classes probation addressing drug addictions etc.....
