Close to the Adriatic, like Isonzo and Carso DOC, you get wetter maritime. As you work inland its more Mediterranean. The Julian Alps are the Northern border with Austria, where you find cooler continental. In general fairly temperate.

Ponca
A rocky combo of calcareous marl and sandstone, high in calcium carbonate and alkalinity, which beefs up minerality and aromatics in the wines. You’ll find it in higher concentrations in the East, particularly Colli Goriziano.
