How do you know if someone is a true friend or not? Finding someone you really click with can be quite a challenge. A true friend is someone who you can rely on when you need it. They treat you with respect and being around them makes you feel good. They
quan tâm tới ai đó, sẵn sàng làm gì đó để giúp họ
to be concerned about and want to help (someone)
to have someone’s (best) interests at heart
They have your best
interest at heart. You feel comfortable being yourself with them and you can trust them.
= to make someone feel stupid or unimportant by
criticizing them: chỉ trích ai đó, làm họ thấy xấu hổ, không quan trọng, khiến bạn cảm thấy thất vọng
to put somebody down
= to make somebody feel ashamed and sorry:
khiến ai đó cảm thấy tồi tệ, tội lỗi, …
to make somebody feel bad
You should feel good hanging out with a friend. And after you’ve hung out, you should leave
with a good feeling. If they put you down or make you feel bad on a regular basis, there’s something important missing in your relationship.
You don’t have to pretend to be someone else to fit in or feel accepted when you’re with a true friend. They don’t try to change you or make you behave in a certain way. With your friend, you can put down your mask, relax, and be yourself.
