Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) Contraindications

A
  • General: not for patients with hypersensitivity, active peptic ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease, or with significant liver or renal impairment.
  • Celecoxib is not for patients with a hypersensitivity to sulfonamides
  • Celecoxib, Meloxicam, and Misoprostol are contraindications for pregnancy
  • Celecoxib and Meloxicam are contraindications for lactation, and patients with hyperkalemia, and following coronary bypass surgery
  • Meloxicam is contraindicated for patients under 18 years old
  • Use with caution in patients with asthma

Gastrointestinal Medications Uses

  • Proton Pump Inhibitors (esomeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole) are indicated for conditions where reduction of gastric acid secretion is required (GERD, peptic ulcer disease). Also used in combination to treat H. Pylori.
  • Ranitidine is indicated for GERD
  • Domperidone is indicated for upper GI motility disorders
