Q

Why is the ‘r’ on ‘jouer’ kept in sentences like these: ‘Je voudrais jouer à la petanque’?

A

The ‘r’ is kept as the sentence is meant to be ‘I would like to play petanque’ and not ‘I would like play petanque’ which is why the ‘r’ is kept so that the meaning makes sense. ‘Jouer’ means ‘to play’ which is why the ‘r’ needs to stay
