What impacts did the agricultural revolution have on Europe?
more food led to more people
led to huge population growth
led to fewer farmers but more food, more efficient farming methods
result= people had to find new jobs
What allowed Britain to be the leaders of the Industrial Revolution?
britain had the money to invest, they had colonies, navys, coal and iron they had a open and tolerant government
Be able to explain the different perspectives that existed in regards to the Industrial Revolution, based upon social class. This means comparing the lives of the rich to the lives of the poor.

proletariat= industrial poor(working class)
bourgeoisie= wealthy owners
poor= forced to put their kids to work at a young age
bourgeoisie= newly rich, scientists,inventors,factory owners
only two people in the world , rich or poor there is no in between

What is the difference between population shift and population growth?
if the population shifts it moves one place to another if the population grows it is increasing
How did concrete and steel impact the Industrial Revolution?
cities got taller
building bridges and skyscrapers you needed concrete and steel
What is the difference between the factory system and the domestic system?
factory system= making things in a factory domestic system = making things at home
Who was Thomas Malthus and what was his theory about population?
population was growing faster than food supply

the government is there to try and help people especially at the bottom, do the greater good

Explain capitalism as Adam Smith described it. What are its strengths and weaknesses? How does capitalism today differ from Smith’s theories?
adam smith = prices and wages are influences by the invisible hand- the controlling variant the idea of supply and demand, prices and wages are determined by supply and demand
Explain communism as Marx described it. What were the flaws of his thinking?
there is no private property pr businesses. the government is going to regulate prices as opposed to supply and demand
marx believed there was one social class
when the workers rose up and killed the wealthy you would be left with one social class
marx believed the change would only come with a violent re structuring of society
marx thought all workers would unite
he ignored nationalism and assumed workers from different countries would somehow come together, people are motivated by money
