There were three estates. The first estate was clergy.The second estate was aristocrats. And the third estate was commoners. The first estate and second wrote the declaration of the rights of man.

Each estate had one vote. The privileged classes combined to outvote the third estate. The third estate was made up of 90% of the population but since each estate only had one vote that did not matter.

people from the third estate went to the tennis court of the king and vowed to make a constitution. when it was stated they will end absolute rule Happened because of the estates general meeting point being locked.

The great rumor was a rumor that the king was getting ready to attack people in paris because there were many troops being called troops from paris they attacked the bastille because they were scared they were gonna attack him. This is when the french revolution started

-The declaration of rights of the man was a document that stated all men are born and remain free in equal rights french agreed with this and used this as their slogan for the french revolution. “liberty, equality and fraternity”.
Why did women capture Louis XVI?
They thought he was hiding grain and there was a rumor that he had trampled the french revolution flag. They brought him back to Paris so they could watch him.
What type of government did the Constitution of 1791 set up?
The new constition set up a limited monarchy. Louis agreed to be a limited monarch.

What was the relationship between the Catholic Church and the various governments of France during the French Revolution?
The delegates hesitated to further tax the bourgeoisie, who were strong supporters of the revolution. But the delegates were willing to sell church lands to help pay off France’s large debt. French peasants rallied to the support of their perished priests . French peasants were conservative Catholics. They believed that the pope should rule over a church and be independent of the state.

In 1792 the new republic government known as the national convention responded to growing civil unrest. In march of 1793 they demonstrated that persons of danger to the republic were being identified and punished.

The Jacobins was a political club of men and women from the middle class. They were violent speech makers. They wanted to remove the king and establish a republic founded on violence.
Robespierre was the driving force in the reign of terror that took the lives of twenty thousand people. He was an honored patriot. He wanted to wipe out all traitors, criminals and modern dictators
Explain what the Directory was and how it was a reactionary government
It was 5 directors and the legislation. It was reactionary because Robespierre was crazy so the idea was to have 5 leaders instead of one. Its a reaction to robespierre
How did Napoleon come to power? What was his background?
When the revolution broke out Napoleon Joined the army of the new government. Napoleon became one of the directors and due to his popularity in the military he was able to take over.
What was the significance of Napoleon’s military efforts in Egypt?
He tried to take Egypt but failed.He lost to England in Egypt.
