To say something is a certain distance away.
use, à + distance + de
You also use this pattern to say something is to the south, north, east, or west!
Examples:
L’hôtel est à cinq kilomètres du musée.
The hotel is five kilometers from the museum.
Mon bureau est au sud de Paris.
My office is south of Paris.
When talking about the past, with a lot of ‑ir verbs, the ending will be

J’ai grandi en Californie, mais maintenant j’habite à Paris.
I grew up in California, but now I live in Paris.
When talking about the past, with a lot of ‑er verbs, the ending will be

Remember apprendre, comprendre, and
prendre? They’re similar to other verbs that end with ‑re, but the (blank) vanishes in some forms!

Use (blank) when you need words like un, ma, etc. before the noun
But, use (blank) or
(blank) when a noun or an adjective immediately follows.

Examples:
C’est ma sœur.
She is my sister.
C’est une grande danseuse.
She is a great dancer.
Il est danseur.
He’s a dancer.
Elle est gentille.
She’s nice.
To say that you went up to a place but didn’t go inside, use (blank)
When you want to say that you went to a place and then went inside, use
(blank)
jusqu’à / à
Examples:
J’ai marché jusqu’au restaurant.
I walked to the restaurant (but didn’t go in).
Je suis allé au restaurant.
I went to the restaurant (and had a meal!).
