Dread Scott Decision
Dread Scott is a slave who sued for his freedom bc he was brought into free states. Went to the Supreme Court, they ruled that he is not a citizen of US and not allowed to sue, Slaves are property and can be taken anywhere. 1854
Missouri Compromise
36/30 Maine is a free state, Missouri is a slave state. Stopped my Dread Scott case

Writes anti slave paper in Boston called the Liberator, burned a copy of declaration on 4th of July symbolic protest

John Brown
Bleeding Kansas, he kills five slaves owners with the help of his brothers. Raid on Harper’s Ferry to get guns and arm the slaves and start a war to endure slavery. Put on trial and hung
