What is a Hyperbole?
An extreme exaggeration.
What is a simile?
A comparison to another thing, ( like, or as)
What is a metaphor?
Comparing two things secretly that share some characteristics. ( the road was a ribbon of darkness)
What is alliteration?
Repetition of an internal sound. ( she sells sea shells by the sea shore)
What is a pun?
word play that suggests two or more meaning of a word. ( I know its cheesy but i feel grate)
What is imagery?
painting pictures with words.
What is parallel structure?
repetition of parts of speech.
What is figurative comparison?
simile, hyperbole, metaphor.
What is a cut ( Film terminology)?
Were one scene ends and a new one immediately begins.
What is a dissolve in film terminology?
a transition where the end of one scene is superimposed over the beginning of a new one.
What is wipe?
an effect that wipes the last scene from the screne.
What is a jump cut?
cuts that have no rhythm, meant to deport the audience.
What is dialogue?
The spoken words in a film.
What are digits sounds?
Sounds that have a source in the story such as dialogue spoken by characters, sounds made by objects, or music .
What is a non diabetic sound?
sound coming from outside the world of the story (soundtrack)
What is a voice over?
The voice of an unseen character
What is subliminal?
Means to exist in the mind, a short and powerful shot of a character in a scene
What is Blue screen?
The filming. of actors props or objects in front of a blue screen.
What is matting?
and opaque outline.
What is internal framing?
when a character is on in another frame ( mirror) to show isolation and internal problems
What is a montage?
pieces of events all happening together ( collage )
