biological determinism
behaviour is caused by biological influences that we cannot control
brain structure and neurotransmitters impact our behaviour
environmental determinism
behaviour is caused by features of the environment and we cannot control it
through classical and operant conditioning
psychic determinism
behaviour is caused by unconscious conflicts we cannot control
adult behaviour is shaped by drives and experience
suggested children can get stuck at a particular stage leading to problems in adulthood
