Define Free will
Free will is the idea that we are able to have some choice in how we act and assumes that we are free to choose our behaviour

What does the humanist approach believe, how does this link with free will?
Maslow (1943) and Rogers (1951) freedom is not only possible but also necessary if we are to become fully functional human beings

Define determinism
-all behaviour has a cause= is predictable. Free will is an illusion, and our behavior is governed by internal or external forces over which we have no control.
What is the definition of hard determinism ?
- The view that all behaviour can be predicted and there is no free will. The two are incompatible
What is the definition of soft determinism ?
- A version of determinism that allows for some element of free will
