franklin temp - hr interview Flashcards
Why are you looking for a new job?
Quant development sounds complex and very interesting (would love to work in a space I’m proud of)
Want to get back into finance space (something I’m interested in)
Being that finance is used every day and I’m a retail investor, working with finance is more tangible, relatable, and interesting
Working with stuff that’s relatable and genuinely interesting naturally helps me produce better work
Why do I want to work at Franklin Templeton?
- Scale, stability, tech:
- Scale and stability of the firm founded in 1947 with $1.5 trillion AUM. I’ve never seen or heard of any investment firms with that much AUM
- They invest in technology and quantitative strategies
- Relevant technical experience:
- Strong C# and SQL experience
- Developed in finance and accounting products – accustomed to working with data and numbers
- Confident I can pick up Python quickly
“I’m really impressed by Franklin Templeton’s scale and stability — being founded in 1947 and managing over $1.5 trillion in assets is remarkable. It’s rare to see an investment firm with that level of success still striving to grow and expand, especially by investing in technology and quantitative strategies. That focus on innovation is something that really excites me.
My background aligns well with the technical demands of the role. I have strong experience with C# and SQL, and I’ve worked on finance and accounting products, so I’m comfortable working with data and numbers in a high-stakes environment. While Python is newer for me, I’m confident I can pick it up quickly given my programming background and experience with similar data-focused work. I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute my skills and grow within a company with such a strong reputation.”

“Sure! I’m a software engineer with over six years of experience, primarily working with the Microsoft stack — C#, SQL Server — with a strong focus on data. Most of my experience has been in the finance and insurance industries, where I’ve built and optimized data-driven systems to support business and research needs. I’ve really enjoyed working at the intersection of finance and technology, which is what drew me to this quant development role.
